iPhone 5C Saved A Man's Life

Actual photo of victim's iPhone (From Cheshire Police)

This past Fall in England, a 25 year old man was shot in the chest with a shotgun after a verbal altercation in front of his home.  Luckily, the iPhone 5C in his pocket took the majority of the blast; saving his life.

From New York Post:

Nineteen-year-old Ryan Duggan has been found guilty of attempted murder after shooting a man in Cheshire County, England.
The victim was walking home at about 8:30 p.m. in October 2014 after taking his dog for a walk. When he came home, he noticed the water at his apartment had been turned off, according to a news release from Cheshire police.
The victim suspected a group outside, which Duggan was a part of, was responsible for turning off the water and went out to speak to them, resulting in a verbal altercation and a chase. During the chase, Duggan pulled out a sawed-off shotgun and fired it at the victim, according to the news release.
The victim fell to the floor after sustaining serious injuries and was taken to Aintree Hospital in serious condition.
But an iPhone in his pocket may be the reason he survived.
“Fortunately, the victim’s mobile phone took the brunt of the shot and, as a result of this, he survived,” Detective Inspector Gary McIntyre said. “This is remarkable – had that phone not been in his pocket at that time, he would undoubtedly have died.”
Duggan was charged and arrested on Nov. 25, 2014.

Daughter Steals Her Mother's Lottery Winnings--Mother Sues

Linza Ford, 2012

In 2012, Barbara Quiles, of Brooklyn, NY was experiencing a major decline in health when she became a millionaire from a $5 scratch off.  Due to her health condition she thought it to be a wise decision to authorize her 19 year old daughter, Linza Ford, to claim the prize for her as well as have access to her winnings.

The mother and daughter created an agreement in which Quiles maintained the title and both would have access to the winnings, which works out to roughly 20 annual payments of $31,152.  All seemed to be going well until 2014, when Quiles' access to the shared bank account purposed for deposit of the winnings was revoked by her daughter.

Reportedly, the mother has made attempts to reason with her daughter and regain access to funds that are rightfully hers, to no avail.  Her daughter has since has left New York City for upstate New York and continues to refuse her mother access to the winnings.  With no other viable options remaining, Quiles has filed a suit against her child.

...If this isn't the most triflin' thing I've heard of..

Former Oklahoma Teacher Sentenced to 10 Years for Molestation

Brian Drabek

Last week a former Oklahoma math and science middle school teacher, 42-year old Brian Drabek, was sentenced to 10 years for molesting a 12 year old student of his.

Drabek gifted the girl an iPad and invited her into his home, where he inappropriately touched her twice.  And in addition to that, he sent the child sexual texts and asked her to lie to her parents about what he subjected her to while in his home.

Brian Drabek, 42, had said during a pre-sentencing investigation that he was in love with the girl and she “fulfilled him” in a way an adult woman could not, the Tulsa World reports.

The former teacher pleaded no contest to five counts of lewd molestation, according to Fox 23. Drabek told the court that when the incidents occurred, he was suffering from depression and the girl provided emotional support.
Though Drabek cried on the stand and repeatedly apologized for his actions, prosecutor McAmis argued that the “only remorse” he had was “for himself.” The attorney read a victim impact statement written by the student’s mother, who wrote, "I thought [teachers] were there to teach, not destroy lives.”
District Judge James Caputo sentenced Drabek to 10 years in prison followed by 10 years of probation.

Why would a 12 year old girl's parents ever allow her to visit her teacher's home unaccompanied by a parent?!  And if they just totally were unaware, period, that their kid was going to this man's house, that's an even bigger problem.

Jimmy Kimmel's Lie Witness News: American Idol Edition [Video]

Jimmy Kimmel's show hits the Hollywood streets to see what people think of this season's American Idol finalists.

I stopped watching American Idol several seasons ago, so I definitely wouldn't know who made it to any level on that show. (David Cook is the last contestant I can recall.) But, apparently, Robert Durst as well as Jay and Adnan (may recall those names from Serial) competed this year.

See the funny little clip below:

Why do folks go along pretending like they know what the hell they talking' 'bout?!  Would it kill ya to just say, "I don't know." o_o

Still Cold In Tha D: Off-Duty Officer Shoots 2 Over a Parking Spot at a Kevin Hart Show

Man!

(Kevin, just know you are NOT to blame for this bull! But also know your name will garner post reads--Okaaaaaaayy.)

An off-duty Detroit police officer was utilizing an empty parking space beside his disabled vehicle as he changed his tire between Kevin Hart's first and second shows for the day in Detroit, Michigan.  Seeing the empty parking space, another carful of Mr. Hart's fans attempted to park so they could enjoy his show.  Obviously, the cop wasn't for it.  Because, of course, his elbow room for a tire change takes precedence over these concert-goers need for a place to legally park their car!--D'ahhh  (The nerve of this guy)

A verbal altercation turns physical and ends in the cop shooting 2 of the second car's occupants.

From Huffington Post:

An off-duty Detroit police officer shot and injured a man and a woman during an argument related to a parking space at comedian Kevin Hart’s Saturday night show in Auburn Hills, Michigan, Police Lt. Jill McDonnell told The Huffington Post Monday morning.
press release from the Auburn Hills Police Department posted on Facebook said that the 26-year-old officer, who was off duty, fired his weapon after a verbal and physical fight in the parking lot. A 32-year-old man from Detroit and 31-year-old woman from Harper Woods were shot, and the officer sustained a head wound, according to the police.
All three were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. McDonnell said that as of Sunday afternoon, both the officer and the woman had been released from the hospital.
The initial argument was related to an empty parking spot next to the officer's vehicle that he was using to change a flat tire, according to McDonnell.
“There was an empty space that he was obviously utilizing when he was changing the tire, otherwise he would have gotten run over or not been able to change the tire, and the other vehicle was attempting to back into [the space], and then there was a verbal altercation,” McDonnell said.
“The officer was attacked in the parking lot and responded by using his off-duty weapon,” Detroit Police Department Sgt. Cassandra Lewis said in a statement emailed to HuffPost.
Police responded to the shooting at 12:03 a.m. Sunday morning, between the first and second Hart shows. Those involved had been going to the second show.
McDonnell described a somewhat chaotic scene in the parking lot.
“For the most part, the previous show attendees had left, but ... it’s like going to the mall the day after Thanksgiving, as soon as a spot opens up someone pulls in,” she said.
McDonnell said authorities do not know whether alcohol or drugs were involved. Officials are not releasing the number of times the officer fired or where the individuals were hit because of the ongoing criminal investigation, she added.
DPD is conducting an internal investigation in cooperation with Auburn Hills police, Lewis’ statement said.

Out.Of.Con.TROL!

Does anyone try to DEescalate issues anymore??  Especially the officer.  He should have specific training for dealing with hype situations.

Convenience: Tiny, Portable Washing Machine

If you've ever lived without a washer (and dryer) in your home, you know the pain of visiting the laundromat and/or laundry room located inside of your apartment building.  It's a pain!  And a chore that I surely hated.  (Such an inconvenience)

Well, if you are currently in such a living situation, a company by the name of Yirego has created a small, foot-operated washer, The Drumi, that may help lessen the dread of Laundry Day.  Or at least help you avoid weekly trips the 'mat.  Those that are too busy (or just plain old lazy..) can throw in some necessary pieces each week and skip the trip outside of their home to wash.

..You know... Throw in a few pairs of undies, bras, your favorite shirt/skirt/jeans -just 1 pair, at a time, please.  Do that week after week and before you know it, an entire month has passed. (Good thing this was not around when I lived in units without a washer. I'd have had avoided the laundromat for MONTHS!)

From Huffington Post:

The Drumi is foot-powered, and can clean about three days' worth of personal undergarments and shirts in about 5 minutes. It uses approximately 2 gallons of water per load and only a little soap, which according to Yirego is 80 percent less water and detergent than what's required by regular washing machines.

Yirego told The Huffington Post that the Drumi will retail for a promotional price of $129 until April 23, after which it will retail for $169. The product will officially hit the market this summer, but the company is currently accepting pre-orders from Canadian and US residents.

Now, if they could just create an accompanying dryer..

Photoshop: Takin' It From Normal to Abnormally Beautiful, Condensed to 90 Seconds [Video]

Go from this...

To this..

In this social media driven world, it is all about beauty and booty.  Tiny waists and large breasts.  Flat stomachs and insanely rotund asses (these two don't even match in the REAL world).  Blemish-free skin and thin, European features (with the exception of full lips-mainstream says that's "in" now).  The aforementioned are the current aesthetic and just about every girl aspires to obtain this "beauty".  Some achieve this by going under the knife, and in some cases, a dirty knife in a back alley, jeopardizing one's health.  While others opt for the much safer physical option of the grand photo illusion: Photo Shop.

The below video is 6 hours of Photo Shop done by a professional, condensed to a 90-minute video.  It shows how a pimply-faced subject goes to a flawless, smooth, even, blushed (shaded) face that many would die to have.  Even the nails are lengthened just so.  Along with the shading in the slack mouth that sits slightly ajar.  The background... Damn near every single spot on this picture receives an adjustment.

I think we would all agree that the ultimate picture is that of a beautiful model, right?

But not even the model looks like the (final picture) model.

Before this age of all the photoshopping and plastic surgery does anyone even remember how a natural body or face looks???  Everyone: Guys and gals seem to expect for all women to look like an airbrushed supermodel with silky hair flowing down your back and measurements of 36-27-40.   It's unrealistic and horrible for the psyche of an entire generation.

A 4-Minute Compilation of Beyoncé's Hits by Todrick Hall [Video]

Before coming across the below video on Huffington Post, I'd never heard of Todrick Hall.  (Don't know why, 'cause..) This guy is AH-MAY-ZING!

He covers all of BeyoncĂ©'s hits in this 4-minute video.  The arrangement of the songs and transition from one hit to the next is incredible!
